Aroma: (8/12)
Light citrusy and herbal & possible vegetal aroma with
possibly some Belgian hints. Very little/light hop aroma
with restrained esters.
Appearance: (1/3)
Pours a very light golden hue with a nice head. Clarity
is intermediate because of amount of sediment
present. The head dissipates quickly with no lacing
on glass.
Flavor: (12/20)
Fairly herbal / vegetable taste, but can't determine
exact herb/spices used. Medium to low hop flavor,
balance between hops and herbs is a little off. Finish
is not pleasant, possibly due to degree of sediment.
Not very clean.
Mouthfeel: (2/5)
Very light body - low creaminess/not very smooth.
Light carbonation.
Overall Impression: (3/10)
Herbal beer is very hard to pull off and balance out,
especially with a Cream Ale. The beer was overall
unpleasant! After having more sips and warming
the beer up, the herbal flavor and after-taste had
becomevery undesirable. I rarely am not able to
finish a beer, but I could not finish this one.
TOTAL: 26/50
I have to agree with this. I was very disappointed, although other South Shore products are on a favorite list-- Sadly this is NOT one of them.
