Sculpin IPA
Ballast Point Brewing Co.
10051 Old Grove Rd.
San Diego, CA
Aroma: (11/12)
Amazing citrus and grapefruit leap out of the glass. I swirl the glass and the aroma hits me in the face from a distance. Very dank!
Appearance: (3/3)
Sculpin pours from the bomber with a one-fingered head that slowly dissipates. Laces glass on the way down, very well. Nice golden hue, with touches of copper in the middle.
Flavor: (18/20)
Wow! Lots of fruity hops. Pine is also fairly forward; melds well with the fruity varietals. The hops begin at the front and and continue through the end. The aftertaste continues for a long time! Nice and light finish.
Mouthfeel: (5/5)
Light body as most IPA's are. The aftertaste is quite impressive and endless. Medium to high carbonation. Very clean.
Overall Impression: (10/10)
West Coast IPA all the way. Wow, this is one of the best IPA's I've ever had. Three Floyd's Dreadnaught is very close to this brew on many levels. Very clean, light, very hoppy and very citrusy. Fantastic!
TOTAL: 47/50
